XALIMANEWS: Karim Wade's application to the Dakar Magistrates Court for registration on the electoral rolls "could only be declared inadmissible", according to the Directorate-General for Elections (DGE), considering that the applicant should rather seize the diplomatic representation of Senegal in Kuwait.

The son of the former president Abdoulaye Wade saw his registration on the electoral rolls rejected by the administrative authorities who invoke his conviction in March 2015 by the Court of Punishment from illicit enrichment to six years in prison and to a fine of 138 billion CFA francs.

On the basis of the Electoral Code, the rejection of this inscription on the electoral lists entails the exclusion of the candidate from the PDS in the presidential election.

The Chief Electoral Officer (DGE) explains this rejection by the fact that the person concerned should " seize the head of the diplomatic representation of Kuwait where he resides … "

The DGE recalls that '' in accordance with Article 11, paragraphs 2 and 3, Decree No. 2018-476 of February 20, 2018 exceptional revision the electoral lists for the presidential election of February 24, 2019, any citizen who feels aggrieved after the publication of the electoral rolls and holds his / her receipt must, directly or through the intermediary of the CENA, seize the president of the Court of jurisdiction or the head of the diplomatic or consular representation, if he resides abroad, to be reinstated in his rights. "

" On these bases and, knowing that Mr. Karim Meïssa Wade has submitted a request for establishment of the identity card and registration on an electoral list at the diplomatic representation of Kuwait, it is the head of this diplomatic representation he should have seized ", Adds the DGE.

It adds that" the list of movements and reasoned rejections established at the end of the data processing by the central services (L.43 of the Electoral Code) and concerning the diplomatic representation of registration of Mr Wade (Kuwait) attests to this. For these reasons, the application lodged with the President of the Dakar Court of First Instance could only be declared inadmissible. "

" Under Articles L.39 in fine, L.312, L.317 in fine and R.104, the exceptional revision of the electoral lists is organized by a decree which determines the terms of the appeal, specifies the time limits and refers to the Electoral Code if necessary ", reminds the DGE.
