BUENA VISTA, Va. (AP / WFXR) – Authorities in Virginia have announced that an explosion at a gas station cost the life of one person and resulted in the hospitalization of four people. The police are trying to determine if there may have been other victims.

Virginia State police said the blast occurred Friday at 9:50 am at the South River market, several kilometers north of Buena Vista in Rockbridge County.

Sgt. Rick Garletts, of the state police, said in an email that the blast did not seem suspicious, and added that the Rockbridge County Sheriff's Office had asked the police for help. State to conduct an investigation.

Garletts said the police and fire crews were working to report on those who could have been located in the building at the time of the blast.
