A suspect is in custody after an active shooting was reported Friday at a school in southwest Harris County, Houston police said.

At least one person has been reported injured. No students were injured in the shooting, the school said in a statement.

“Police are on campus with a suspect in custody who opened fire inside the school,” the statement said. “No student was injured. The students were transported to W. Fuqua and Hiram Clarke, where they can be picked up. Please do not drive to school; the roads are blocked by the Houston Police Department. We collect information and will pass it on as soon as we can. “

Houston Police will hold a press conference from the scene around 1:30 p.m. to provide information on the shooting.

At approximately 11:45 a.m., Houston Police were dispatched to YES Prep Southwest Secondary, located at 4411 Anderson Road, in response to a report of an ongoing shooting.

Several agencies intervened on the scene. Houston firefighters and paramedics are on scene to treat and transport, HFD said in a social media post.

“We need you to keep everyone in your prayers,” the department said.

Authorities have set up a parents’ assembly area at West Fuqua in Hiram Clarke. Students will be transported to the site. Authorities said parents should not come to the school because law enforcement is still securing the premises.

Residents are urged to stay away from the area.
