[ad_1]

We’re not sure whether we’re heading towards 2021, but the upcoming TV list gives us reason to be hopeful.

Despite the delays related to the pandemic, tons of shows are kicked off and coming back in the New Year, giving those of us who are still socially left behind with plenty to go. Indictment: American Crime Story, Tuca and Bertie Season 2, Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings series, HBO Max’s Gossip Girl restart, and many more exciting projects are in the works.

What do we know we’re going to be looking at ASAP? Here are our top 10 picks for the most anticipated TV shows in 2021. (Oh yeah, there’s Marvel here. A lot by Marvel.)

1. Mr. Mayor, NBC (January 7)

NBC’s beloved The right place finally crossed in 2020. Fortunately, a new comedy from Tina Fey and Robert Carlock should fill the hole of the size of Ted Danson that it left in our hearts. Mr. Mayor Puts Enon as Ned, a retired businessman who runs for mayor in Los Angeles on a whim – and wins. With a delightful trailer, a killer supporting cast and a confirmed release date of January 7th, Mr. Mayor seems like a safe bet for a favorite new show in 2021. – Alison Foreman, entertainment reporter

2. WandaVision, Disney + (January 15)

2020 will be remembered for a lot of things, one of which is the first year without a new Marvel movie since 2008. Fortunately, the MCU picks up in January with WandaVision, the first of a multitude of new features on Disney +. Marketing for the series has been cryptic, teasing a genre and reality story about Wanda Maximoff, seemingly reviving the late hero Vision in a series of episodes that mimic different eras of TV programming. – Alexis Nedd, Senior Entertainment Reporter

3. Equalizer, CBS (February 7)

Justice has a new face when Equalizer returns to television in 2021. This time, Queen Latifah will assume the role of retired secret agent who dedicates her life to solving the problems of others with Equalizer’s signature flair. And by flair, we mean “creative violence elevated to the rank of art”. Everything is a weapon when The Equalizer walks into a room, and anyone causing problems for their clients should watch their backs, fronts, the floor, and should also check the ceiling to be safe. – A

4. The falcon and the winter soldier, Disney + (March)

The second Marvel show coming to Disney + in 2021 is The falcon and the winter soldier, an action thriller starring Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan as two members of Team Cap in a post-Cap world. The trailer for The falcon and the winter soldier teases a threat to Captain America’s legacy, a mysterious group of masked criminals, and a reluctant partnership between Sam and Bucky to save the day, shield or no shield. – A

5. Loki, Disney + (May)

Loki’s death in Avengers: Infinity War spawned a thousand fan theories as to how the MCU’s Trickster God was able to actually shoot a fast and survive. These theories were only partially correct. The Loki of Loki on Disney + is an old take on Tom Hiddleston’s iconic anti-hero, pulled out of time by the events of Avengers: Endgame and embark on a whole new adventure in a far corner of the galaxy. What does this mean for Thor and the ‘fixed’ MCU? I must watch Loki in May to find out. – A

6. Love is blind Season 2, Netflix (TBA)

Not much happened in 2020 that we really want to repeat. But of course Netflix is scandalous Love is blind should feel free to come back whenever he wants. People of musical theater: we are eating in 2021. The main course on the table is Schmigadoon!, an Apple TV + series about a pair of grunts who accidentally travel to a city where everyone is behaving like they’re in a musical. The stacked cast includes Cecily Strong, Aaron Tveit, Keegan Michael-Key, Ann Harada, Kristin Chenowith, Jane Krakowski, and Alan Cumming, so you wouldn’t know nobody is messing around on these live recorded voices. – A

ten. Boba Fett’s book, Disney + (December)

The triumphant return of Boba Fett in The Mandalorian Season 2 was easily one of the coolest TV moments of 2020. Temuera Morrison’s laconic, stunning, and surprisingly funny version of the iconic bounty hunter seemed perfect for a solo series, and in the The Mandalorian final kept on that promise. Boba Fett’s book, starring Ming-Na Wen as Fennec Shand, will be released in December 2021. – A
