WARSAW, Ind. (WANE) – An 11-year-old boy was recognized Monday for saving his family when his home was filled with carbon monoxide.

On February 3, Milind Kumer called 9-1-1 and opened the windows after family members started complaining of headaches, dizziness and vomiting. He suspected that it could be due to carbon monoxide poisoning.

It turned out that he was right when a CO leak was discovered from a faulty boiler.

Kumer was recognized by the Warsaw School Board and first responders at the school council meeting Monday night at Edgewood Middle School, and received a certificate.
