110 new deaths reported in Orange County January 18-19 – Orange County Register

The Orange County health care agency reported 3,995 new cases of the coronavirus on Tuesday, January 19, bringing the cumulative total in the county to 214,808 cases since follow-up began. The update includes the number of cases for Monday and Tuesday as there was no post on Martin Luther King Jr.’s vacation.

Monday: 1,681 cases; 46 dead; 14,853 tests given

Tuesday: 2,314 cases; 64 deaths; 12,430 tests performed

There were 110 deaths reported by the county on Tuesday, bringing the total number of reported deaths to 2,477.

Data on deaths in the county is compiled from death certificates or collected during case investigations and can take weeks to process. The most recent death recorded was on January 10.

The county also reported 2,007 patients in local hospitals with the coronavirus on Tuesday.

There were 523 patients listed in intensive care units on Tuesday.

An estimated 39,776 cases of the virus have been recorded in Orange County in the past 14 days.

The county update says 2,457,987 tests have been performed for the coronavirus since testing began locally, with at least 27,283 new tests since the previous report.

Of the 2,470 cumulative deaths reported from the virus, 765 were residents of skilled nursing facilities, 275 were assisted living residences, one inmate from OC prison and four were homeless.

The distribution of deaths by age in the county is as follows:

  • 85 and over: 34.52% (855)
  • 75 to 84: 22.69% (562)
  • 65 to 74: 19.1% (473)
  • 55 to 64: 13.24% (328)
  • 45 to 54: 7.02% (174)
  • 35 to 44: 2.06% (51)
  • 25 to 34: 1.13% (28)
  • 18-24 years old: 0.2% (5)
  • 17 and under: 0.04% (1)

It is estimated that around 143,618 people recovered from the virus on Tuesday. The number of people who have recovered is based on the cumulative number of previous 28 days.

Data released each day is preliminary and subject to change, officials say. Further information may become available as investigations of individual cases are completed.

Vaccines administered from January 17

The California Department of Public Health website shows that a total of 3,226,775 doses of the vaccine, which includes the first and second dose, were shipped to local health departments and health care systems as of January 17. .

The totals of vaccines administered in six different regions are shown on the maps below. As of January 17, a total of 1,393,224 doses of the vaccine had been administered statewide, an increase of 609,748 from the January 11 report. The state warns that the numbers do not represent a real day-to-day change, as reporting may be delayed.
