Welcome to the roundup of new Android games that either released to the Play Store or that we spotted the week before. Today’s roster is split into several segments, ranging from the best average to mediocre game releases of the past week. So whether you’re looking for the best quality games or just looking for the latest free versions of gacha, you’ve got you covered. This week I have a wonderful action puzzle that features Metroidvania-style gameplay, a nice cat-style interactive storytelling game, and a unique solitaire card game from the creator of Miracle Merchant. Titles that offer fair prices, enjoyable gameplay, refined interfaces, or that are intriguing
MO: Lost
Android Police Coverage: MO: Astray is a great indie platformer that has just arrived on Android
MO: Astray is a gorgeous side-scrolling action puzzle that first landed on PC in 2019. Well, the game has been ported to Android, and luckily it’s just as awesome as the PC version. More or less, this is a Metroidvania title, which is why you will be tasked with solving puzzles with the skills you acquire as you progress. It’s a familiar yet enjoyable system that encourages exploration, and since it’s a premium version, you won’t have to worry about interruptions or huge in-app purchases. Additionally, the title offers physical controller support, although it seems to be a bit buggy at the moment.

Underworld office!
Underworld Office is billed as an interactive cat-style storytelling game, so it’s basically a choose-your-own adventure with branching paths. This type of setup allows for a bit of replayability if you want to see all of the game’s endings, and thanks to a few collectibles, there’s more than one reason to replay. It also doesn’t hurt that the title offers a candid story, so it should easily keep players coming back for a bit.

Gnomitary
Gnomitaire is a new card game from the developer behind Card Thief, Card Crawl and Miracle Merchant, but this time around, you’ll take a seat in a tavern to play games of solitaire. These sessions tend to be fast-paced, which makes it a game that lends itself well to mobile play, although there is a high scoring mechanic if you really want to dive in and top the charts. Overall, it’s a nice solitaire card game that sports a lovely theme, and since it’s ad-supported, anyone is free to take a look.

ChocoHunters
ChocoHunters plays like a SHMUP, but it also offers some defensive capabilities, which means dodging bullets isn’t your only goal, giving a fresh take on the genre. The graphics are engaging, the gameplay is solid, and while the stages seem a bit static, the rest of the in-game animations make up for that. So if you’re looking for a high-end SHMUP that doesn’t take itself too seriously, you’ll want to take a look at ChocoHunters.

Prank Call – The Voice Chat Game
Prank Call comes from the same people behind a Comedy Night Live, which is why both games feature similar art. Originally both titles were available on consoles, and now they’ve bridged the gap with mobile. More or less, you’ll be spending your time in this version leading the conversations of fictitious people, all to get them to say a specific word. This is, of course, easier said than done, which makes the game challenging and, in the long run, enjoyable, although the title’s honor system and boring graphics mean it won’t please. – not to everyone.

Unbroken Soul Lite
Unbroken Soul Lite is just that, a lite version of the premium game. This way, people can test the action platform game without spending any money. Sadly, it looks like the in-game controls are still a bit uncertain so it takes some getting used to, but at the very least, they’re customizable, which minimizes this issue. So if you were eager to take a look at Unbroken Souls when it was first released, there is now a free, free version that anyone can try.

Buggy, unpolished, or aggressively monetized titles
Wasteland Punk – Post-Apocalypse Open World RPG
Wasteland Punk bills itself as an open-world RPG, but it’s actually just a lazy Clash of Clans clone, which is probably why not all of the screenshots actually show any valid images from the game. Developers like Try Hard Gams love to hide what their game actually offers, because no one would download this trash if they fully understood what it was. Best of all, this is an Early Access release, meaning the game is still in development and is already heavily monetized. Yes, it’s a seizure of money, as you would expect.

Warpath
Warpath is a new take on LilithGames that basically features a war theme over Rise of Kingdoms, another free-to-play strategy game from the studio. As expected, the visuals are excellent, although the gameplay is lacking thanks to the title’s reliance on in-app purchases. Really, the game boils down to a realm builder, much like Clash of Clans or Game of War, so doesn’t even bring anything new to the table.

Goddess of Genesis S
Goddess of Genesis S is an anime-themed gacha RPG, and if you’re guessing it’s a waifu collector, you’re right. One thing is for sure, the graphics are excellent, although the RPG gameplay requires virtually no skill, and you will come across payment walls that make it clear in the early hours. It’s basically the last generic gacha game on the Play Store, and it doesn’t do much to stand out from the crowd. Plus, it’s aggressively monetized just like the rest.

Evo Pop
Evo Pop is the latest release from ZeptoLab, the makers of Cut the Rope. While the studio has also found success with CATS: Crash Arena Turbo Stars, it would appear that it generally struggles to find a foothold in the free-to-play market. Sadly, Evo Pop is another studio failure that is chock full of blatant monetization. The strategy game is filled with paywalls, not to mention loot crates and a battle pass system. Apparently, ZeptoLab’s greed knows no bounds, and the game isn’t even polished. It feels like we’ve been slapped together in a weekend, and since it’s filled with paywalls, there’s no real way to progress as a free player.

A3: ALWAYS ALIVE
A3: STILL ALIVE is from Netmarble, and it’s an open-world RPG that features a battle royale mode as well, because of course it does. I mean, why make a neat, focused game that targets one audience and their interests when you can throw shit on the walls to see what will stick? As expected, automatic combat is included, although battle royale mode requires manual controls all the time. Basically, you will automatically switch to story mode in order to level up to take on opponents in battle royale mode. So if you want to work endlessly to achieve a competitive level or just love paying endless funds to stay competitive in the latest generic mobile RPG, you are going to love A3: STILL ALIVE.

Abandoned world: gods and demons
Forsaken World: Gods and Demons is a fantasy MMORPG that contains some car mechanics, so if you’re looking for a game that plays on its own, you’re in luck. Of course, like all the generic fantasy RPGs on the Play Store, the game is filled with horrible monetizations. Worse yet, the gameplay is little explained, and even when it is, there is no way to go back on those explanations. Forsaken World is a study of how not to design your game, which seems to be a popular strategy in the mobile gaming world.
