Thirteen Marines have been formally charged for playing a role in the smuggling of undocumented immigrants into the United States, the Marine Corps said Friday.
In addition to the charges of smuggling, the Marines will be prosecuted in a military court for disrespect for order, drunkenness, endangerment, larceny and perjury, according to a statement from the press office of the 1st Marine Division.
Two of the Marines were named specifically – Cpls de Lance. Byron Law and David Salazar-Quintero – but the other names were retained. At the federal level, these two people were also accused of carrying and conspiring to transport illegal immigrants into the country for profit. Both were based in Camp Pendleton, California.

According to a criminal complaint filed in July, border patrol officers were on normal rounds when they saw a black car leave the road about seven miles north of the US-Mexico border. They had three undocumented immigrants in the back seat; the three men reportedly told the agents that they were Mexican citizens and that they had no documents to legally enter the United States.

All five were arrested and interrogated. Law and Salazar-Quintero pointed at each other. They were not paid that day and on July 3, they agreed to take another three people to pay for that day and that day. before work.
