Talk about discovering a life.
A painting found in the kitchen of an elderly woman in France is a work of art of a 13th century Renaissance artist and could be worth up to 6.5 million dollars, according to experts.
The piece, known as "Mocked Christ", is a long lost work of the Italian painter Cimabue and is part of a series of paintings by him, according to the BBC. The woman, who lives in Compiegne, thought the work was an old religious icon and was appreciated by the experts, who said it was "not questionable" where it came from.

The experts used infrared light tests to compare the earlier work of Cimabue, also known as Cenni di Pepo, to determine if they were similar and, in fact, they were.
"The painting was made from the same hand," said arts expert Éric Turquin to the French newspaper Le Figaro.
In an interview with The Art Newspaper, Turquin added that tunnels built by wood-eating larvae helped to identify its authenticity. "You can follow the tunnels created by worms," he told reporters. "It's the same poplar panel."
Cimabue's painting is expected to be auctioned on 27 October.
