The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said a 14-year-old boy led them on a 15-minute chase Thursday afternoon, then wrecked around the 21st and Garnett.

Troopers said the SUV the teenager is believed to have crashed into had three people inside: Lanise Dade, 31, from Tulsa, as well as a boy and a girl. Dade and the girl died and the boy was injured.

Soldiers reported that the frenzy of crime began 15 miles away at the Fast Wash car wash in Coweta, where surveillance footage showed at least four people pulling over next to a truck as a man vacuuming.

Video showed that when the man left the truck running, one of the guys entered and left. Video from a witness also showed the pick-up lighting a red light with law enforcement pursuing it.

Tulsa County District Attorney Steve Kunzweiler told News On 6 as the prosecution ended in a fatal accident, the teen could be charged with multiple crimes.

“If you are 13 to 17 years old and you commit first degree murder. In that case, the allegation, as I understand it, would escape an officer,” Kunzweiler said.

Kunzweiler said no charges have been filed and that the US prosecutor’s office may deal with the case if the suspect or victims are members of the tribe, which is under investigation.

He also explained that defendants aged 13 or 14 had the option of asking the court not to be tried as adults.

“It would be up to the judge to decide whether you are treated as a young offender or as a minor or whether you are going to stay as an adult,” Kunzweiler said.

News On 6 contacted the U.S. prosecutor’s office and a spokesperson declined to comment on how federal prosecutors would treat an accused juvenile.

The soldiers did not disclose the young suspect’s name and said he was in Tulsa County Jail.
