Almost every country in the world has agreed to a treaty to limit pollution from plastic waste, but the United States was not part of it because it had not ratified a treaty to which the provision had been added.

The United States did not participate in the plastics negotiations because it is one of only two countries that have not ratified the treaty, according to the television network. Even if the United States has not ratified the treaty, its trade with the countries that have approved the agreement will be affected.
According to ABC News, several industries will be affected by the move, including health care, technology, food and fashion.
"This sends a very strong political signal to the rest of the world – to the private sector, to the consumer market – that something needs to be done," said Rolph Payet, of the United Nations Environment Program. , at ABC. "Countries have decided to do something that will translate into real action on the ground".
