19-year-old California TikTok star dies after filming for “Purge” theater

Anthony Barajas, a 19-year-old TikTok star who was shot dead during a screening of “The Forever Purge” at a Southern California movie theater on Monday, died Saturday morning, police said.

Rylee Goodrich, an 18-year-old who was at the film with Barajas, was also shot and pronounced dead at the scene.

The Corona Police Department said it was working with the district attorney to add one more count of first degree murder against 20-year-old Joseph Jimenez, who was arrested Tuesday night and charged with murder and attempted murder murder on Friday.

Barajas, who was called @itsanthonymichael on social media, had nearly a million followers on TikTok.

Cpl. Tobias Kouroubacalis said only six tickets were purchased for the film on Monday night and they believed Jimenez acted alone during the shooting.

“It was absolutely not provoked and the victims were shot without any prior contact,” Kouroubacalis said on Wednesday.

Dave Goodrich, Rylee Goodrich’s father, confronted Jiminez in a court appearance on Friday.

“Look at me. Look at me!” Goodrich yelled at Jiminez as several people held him back, according to FOX 11. “She was my daughter.”

Theater workers tracked down the injured teens after the 9:35 p.m. screening of “The Forever Purge,” which is the fifth installment in the series that depicts America’s dystopian future where all crimes are legalized for 24 hours a year.
