Police say two people were killed and a third injured in a shooting at a Maryland convenience store and gas station
ESSEX, Maryland – Two people were killed and a third person was injured in a shooting at a convenience store and gas station in Maryland on Sunday, police said.
The Baltimore Sun reports that Baltimore County Police were investigating whether the fatal shooting at a Royal Farms store was linked to a fire and another fatal shooting 15 minutes later at a nearby apartment complex.
Police said the person shot at the compound had a gunshot wound that appeared to be self-inflicted. The newspaper reported that a body was covered with a tarp in the parking lot and an apartment in the complex was badly burned.
Baltimore County Police Department spokesman Robert Reason said he could not immediately release more information about the shootings.
“We are not confirming that an incident is related,” he told The Associated Press. “We are currently waiting for investigators to basically do their part, do their investigation, and then contact us and update us on the confirmed information that they do.”
Royal Farms spokeswoman Breahna Brown said the company had no immediate comment on the shooting at its store.
