JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Twenty Duval County principals should be reassigned to new schools for the 2019-2020 school year, the school district announced to News4Jax.

A spokeswoman for Duval County Public Schools said the district recognized that school leadership was at the heart of school culture, teacher development, parent engagement and, more importantly, student achievement.

"Our goal will always be to seek the best possible alignment of leadership strengths with the unique needs of each school when selecting school principals to lead our school communities," said the district.

In many cases, directors' reassignments for the next school year are scheduled for the first meeting of the Duval County School Board after classes for the summer of June.

It was not put on the June agenda and the district said it was because some of the reallocations took place in June. The list of major reallocations should therefore be on the agenda of the July Board meeting.
