20 more Mainers died from coronavirus, deadliest day since pandemic began

AUGUSTA, Maine (WABI) – The latest daily update from the Maine CDC on Tuesday, December 1, shows the most reported coronavirus-related deaths in the day since they started recording statistics in March.

10 deaths have been reported in Androscoggin County, 3 in Penobscot County, 2 in York County, one each in Kennebec, Oxford, Knox, Washington as well as the first reported COVID-19 death in County of Piscataquis.

The total number of coronavirus-related deaths in our state now stands at 214.

The Maine CDC also reported 227 new cases.

This brings the total number of cases in our state to 11,976.

2398 are active.

48 patients linked to the coronavirus are currently in intensive care. 22 are on fans, according to the Maine CDC.

Cumberland County reports the biggest jump with 45 new cases. But just behind is Penobscot County with 43 new cases.

Androscoggin has 33, York County has 29, and Kennebec County has 22 new cases.

Somerset and Oxford counties with 10 additional cases each. Franklin and Aroostook counties each have 8 new cases.

Lincoln is the only county not to report a change.
