Country duo Dan + Shay continued his career at the 2019 Oscars of the Country Music Awards on Sunday night after winning three awards. – most of all act – and became the joke of the night.
"I'm going to give this to Dan + Shay so they can go home with four," Rhett said when he won the Best Male Artist of the Year award. Host Reba McEntire said the show should be renamed "Dan + Shay's Great Adventure".
Even Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney themselves, obviously overwhelmed, were devaluing themselves by the time they made their third speech. "I think someone mixed the cards," he said while accepting the price for the vocal duet. They also left with a song and a single of the year for the ballad "Tequila", the success that earned them their first Grammy for a performance in duet / group.
Kacey Musgraves continued his winning streak with "Golden Hour", which the propulsa to four Grammys in February, album of the year included. This time she won the ACM Album and Female Artist of the Year; and although she did not get a place for the performance during the three-hour television broadcast, she took full advantage of her stage time with a stimulating message.
"This award is given to any woman or girl – or anyone, really – that may be saying his point of view or his style are too different to work, "said Musgraves, perhaps a nod to the fact that some country music keepers do not appreciate his unique point of view. "Just stay on that. It's going to work. "
Meanwhile, Keith Urban triumphed in the category of coveted artists of the year and became moved by thanking his wife, Nicole Kidman (beaming in the audience, as usual), and their two daughters. A complete list of winners is below; Here are some of the best and worst moments of the series.
BETTER
Ashley McBryde's moment of triumph with Girl Goin Nowhere.
McBryde, who barely made a living for a decade in Nashville before releasing her first critically acclaimed album last year, had one of those moments artists dreamed about: she was lucky enough to go on national television to sing a song thought that she would never get there. In particular, the beautiful acoustic ballad "Girl Goin 'Nowhere", inspired by a teacher who told her she would never be a country singer.
At the end of the show, McBryde (the new female artist of the year) was so upset that she could barely sing. "Wow," she said, as the audience gave her a standing ovation.

* The collaboration Maren Morris and Brothers Osborne.
Some performances of the ACM were deeply solemn, while others gave off a pure infectious energy. – Morris and TJ and John Osborne were definitely the latter. The three singers (who are close friends in real life) had a blast with their new happy song "All My Favorite People," a piece of Morris' new album "Girl" contained jokes about Nashville, including a sign for Santa's Pub, one of Music City's favorite dive bars with epic karaoke.
* The many other duets.
As a rule of thumb, country duets are a coincidence, but this year there has been a surprising number of strong couples. Kane Brown and Khalid were impressed by the remixed version of "Saturday Nights," which Khalid reissued in January. Dierks Bentley and Brandi Carlile made the house disappear with "Travelin 'Light", which appears on Bentley's album. Eric Church and McBryde's are perfectly mixed on his song "The Snake" on the current poisoned political atmosphere.
And as an added bonus – there were some countries from the 1990s and early 2000s! George Strait and Miranda Lambert were successful with "Run" in the Strait, while Luke Combs announced an updated rendition of "Brand New Man" with Brooks & Dunn.
* The dark and unexpected sound of Blake Shelton.
Shelton has been around for a while with songs on the radio that sound pretty much the same. However, his new "country of God" has an unexpected Gothic energy that one would not necessarily associate with the coach of "Voice". Still, it seems to work. His performance, with dark and spooky clouds behind him, helped push the runway into second place on iTunes.
* Carrie Underwood's billiard track.
Speaking of singers trying out new things, you usually do not think of "party song" or "Carrie Underwood". Usually, his singles revolve around "Love" or "revenge" or "murder". So it is a reason for him to go in the opposite direction with "Southbound", an optimistic track on the theme of spring break that started in a pool of Vegas & Tae and Runaway June) and then went to ACM site, with many backup dancers who seemed delighted to be there.
* Big Little Town moment with "The Faughters".
The country quartet is famous for its ballads and harmonies, and its new single has the power to stop you when you hear the brutally honest words, all the expectations of women: "Put like a trophy on a shelf / Dream for all the world but not yourself. . I have heard of God the son and God the father / I am always looking for a God for girls. "
WORST
* The lack of nominees and winners.
* "Knockin 'Boots" by Luke Bryan.
Perhaps it was due to the fact that he had followed the violent Miranda Lambert, but Bryan, who was usually one of the hottest artists, was a swing and a failure with his new single; he did not seem to bring his usual energy. Something tells us that this song will be No. 1 anyway. . . the sign he held in the audience (a little during Reba's monologue) did not lie:
* The optics of "Artist of the Decade".
Although the ACMs have gorged themselves on how Lambert has received the most ACM award in the history of the show (32!), C is Aldean who received a special tribute and speech on television since he was named artist of the decade. Admittedly, Aldean is a huge star – but it seemed a little strange when they both realized a mix of their hits, and then only Aldean had the honor.
