The last tournament of the season begins Thursday as the 2019 Circuit Championship takes place at the East Lake Golf Club just outside of Atlanta. There is a lot at stake this week – about $ 45 million in total, divided among 30 golfers – and we are following a different format this year. Justin Thomas is currently the leader of the FedEx Cup standings and is also at the top of the standings, even before a shot is hit. Thomas will start at age 10 with Patrick Cantlay at 8, Brooks Koepka at 7 and all the others will march behind them.
Nobody really knows how it will go, but it simplifies the previous reality: there was a FedEx Cup pursuit and a golf tournament taking place simultaneously. Now? It's the winner who wins everything, and it could be a horse race if Thomas leaves as he ended last Sunday at the BMW Championship.
