NEW YORK, April 17, 2019 – Since its debut almost two years ago, the Kia Stinger has quickly become a crowd favorite. At the New York International Auto Show, Kia Motors America gave driving purists an extra reason to watch Kia's most successful sports sedan. Limited to 800 units, the special edition Stinger GTS[i] boosts its feats on the road with a newly developed dynamic all-wheel drive system[ii] (D-AWD) that inspires a more lively driving. With sport-inspired styling elements featuring authentic carbon fiber parts and a vibrant new color that demands even more attention, the GTS Limited Edition is the one that car enthusiasts love. Will align to drive.

Reduce the gap

During its short period in the market, the Stinger has established itself as a true competitor in the sport sedan segment with performance strong enough to embarrass its German rivals. Along the way, he also redefined the Kia brand and consumer perception. But with all the praise and praise from Stinger, Albert Biermann, head of research and development, was striving to do more. The result is a new version of the Stinger's all-wheel drive system, sprinkled with propulsion DNA. Dubbed D-AWD, the system has been modified to reduce the behavioral gap between the Stinger GT equipped with the AWD system and the one equipped with the RWD system.

  • A mechanical limited slip rear differential is added to the D-AWD system, designed to improve traction and distribute power more evenly between the rear wheels when skidding
  • Drive Mode Select boosts backward polarized dynamics
    • Comfort mode sends 60% of the power to the back for a feeling of stability
    • Sport mode sends 80% of the power to the rear for more lively driving
    • Drift mode sends up to 100% of power to the rear wheels and keeps the gears without shifting up
  • New control logic
    • Slip control and counter-steering detection
    • Transmission model
    • Stability control

Available in D-AWD or RWD, the Stinger GTS keeps the powerful Stinger GT powertrain under the hood.

  • 3 liters V6 Twin turbo
    • 365 horses
    • 376 lb-ft of torque
  • 8 speed automatic transmission

The hot spot of the Stinger range

Apart from what is hidden below, the GTS shows that it's not your average Stinger, thanks to a number of interior and exterior improvements designed to give it the impression of saving time on the track or make hairpin turns.

Exterior enhancements include:

  • Exclusive painting "Federation" in orange
  • Authentic carbon fiber parts highlighting the typical tiger grille, mirror caps and side diffusers
  • GTS rear emblem
  • The Stinger Center emblem replaces the Kia logo on the trunk lid for a more personalized look

Inside, the Stinger GTS adds premium materials, just like a real driver's car.

  • Steering wheel and center console wrapped in Alcantara®[iii]
  • Top quality chamede covered lining, similar to suede®[iv]

Pleasantly and at an affordable price

Value remains the mainstay of the Stinger GTS, with many advantages in terms of technology, comfort and assistance to driving[v]. As part of the GTS treatment, the fastback limited edition includes:

  • Sunroof
  • Harman / Kardon 720 watts[vi] Premium audio system with QuantumLogic[vii] and Clari-Fi[viii] signal enhancement technology
  • Wireless charger for compatible smartphones

To stay competitive, the Stinger GTS stands out in terms of price. With the start of production scheduled for this spring, the limited edition GTS should have a MSRP[ix] from about $ 44,000 for RWD and about $ 46,500 for D-AWD.
