The nominations for the 2019 Tony Awards were announced on April 30th. The season of awards with the most nominations is Hadestown, who won a total of 14 nominations. To hang around was Not too proud – The life of temptations with 12. The two titles of the coveted category of the best music have been Beetlejuice, the prom, and Tootsie.
Among HadestownThe 14 nominations were two for composer and librettist Anais Mitchell, a nod to director Rachel Chavkin and four for her performers: Eva Noblezada, Amber Gray, Andre De Shields and Patrick Page.
Meanwhile, in plays, The passer and Kill a mocking bird has accumulated the most nominations with nine each, but only the first is in contention for the best game. Completing this category are Choir Boy, Gary: A sequel to Titus Andronicus, Ink, and What the constitution means to me
Laureate Tony Bebe Neuwirth and Candidate Tony Brandon Victor Dixon announced the New York Public Library's recognized artists and productions for the performing arts at Lincoln Center. The 73rd Annual Ceremony will be broadcast by CBS from Radio City Music Hall on June 9th. James Corden will be the host.

A number of honorary recipients of the 2019 Tony Award have already been announced. Terrence McNally, Rosemary Harris and Harold Wheeler will each receive a distinction for their entire career in the theater; Judith Light has been named winner of the Isabelle Stevenson Award this year; the Regional Theater Tony Award will go to TheaterWorks Silicon Valley; Tony Honors for Theater Excellence will go to Broadway Inspirational Voices, Peter Entin, Joseph Blakely Forbes and FDNY Engine 54; and special Tony prizes will be awarded to Jason Michael Webb, Sonny Tilders and the late Marin Mazzie.
