The Warriors have sent out all kinds of smokescreens for who they could potentially target with the No. 2 overall pick, but our latest simulation project got Golden State to pick the big man James Wiseman. He would be an ideal rim protector for the Warriors, a need they must fill. However, The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor reported on Wednesday morning that the The Bulls might be ready to trade Carter Jr., and Choice # 4 in exchange for the No. 2 pick. If the Bulls are successful, O’Connor reports that Chicago would select Wiseman with the pick, who would immediately fill Carter’s role in the starting lineup.
For warriors, it’s a question of who they would prefer to be their center. Wiseman has a huge advantage and would be a nightmare in transition as a lob threat. Carter showed promise in his first two seasons with the Bulls, but injuries hampered his young NBA career. For Chicago, the Bulls need to see a brighter future with Wiseman as a center than Carter, otherwise they wouldn’t include a guy they just picked seventh in the 2018 draft.
The Celtics want to enter the top three
Boston has been trying to find a buyer for its three first-round picks for weeks, but no one seems to bite. It’s unclear who they target if they move on to the lottery, but it’s clear the Celtics would rather walk out of the draft with quality rather than quantity. It’s also imperative that they try to trade in some of their first-round picks as they wouldn’t have places in the list for all if they draft players with those picks.

The deal pushes the Knicks up from the draft four places and gives them two top 25 picks, at No.8 and No.23. Wojnarowski reported on Wednesday that the reinforced position is enough to potentially muster a pack to target a player higher up on the board, a possibility that could bring into play some of the best goalies in the draft for a franchise that needs a point guard reset.
