The 149th Open Championship is about to end and the full set of start times and pairs have been released. Saturday’s final group of Louis Oosthuizen and Collin Morikawa will return on Sunday with the Claret Jug in play at Royal St. George’s in Sandwich, England.
Oosthuizen went on to set the 36-hole Open scoring record with a regular round of 69 to mark the 54-hole 12-hole lead as he seeks to become the first end-to-end winner at the Open. since Rory McIlroy in 2014 However, with McIlroy having a six-stroke lead heading into the final round, Oosthuizen has Morikawa just one stroke off pace after an impressive performance on Saturday.
It doesn’t get any easier for Oosthuizen with three-time major winner Jordan Spieth three-stroke and reigning US Open champion Jon Rahm five-off. Spieth had a chance to be tied with Morikawa but finished his third round with a bogey on No 17 and a bad bogey on No 18 which saw him push a short putt and finish three head shots. He will be paired with Corey Conners in the penultimate group, while Rahm will play in the group just ahead alongside Scottie Scheffler.
With this lead over Spieth and the rest of the field, Oosthuizen and Morikawa will be able to follow the action on the standings and adjust their play accordingly from their local start time of 2:35 pm Sunday afternoon at Royal St. George’s.
