The Buccaneers’ dominating Super Bowl victory on Sunday wrapped up the 2020 NFL season and opened the door to what promises to be an eventful and unusual offseason – which of course includes the 2021 NFL Draft. The Tampa Defense Bay has shown what the smart draft can do for a team, with recent early-round picks Devin White and Antoine Winfield Jr. each in an interception. Which team will make wise moves in this year’s draft to take it to the next level? Let’s predict how the 32 first-round selections will play out on April 29.
Despite the lack of a traditional combine this year, there is still plenty of time to get around the drawing boards. Interviews, medicals, professional training sessions, and other in-game strip research await. Likewise, a lot has changed in just a month since my last simulation after an exciting national title game in the college football playoffs and the annual Senior Bowl week. We’re still over two months away and have a lot to learn about this talented class – including how quarterbacks and playmakers stack up against each other.
But with the draft order locked after Game # 269 of the season and plenty of talent in this year’s class to be excited about, here is my post-Super Bowl screening of the top 32 picks in the 2021 NFL Draft, in starting with no problem at # 1. And surprise – we have two bogus trades in this edition.

Trevor Lawrence, QB, Clemson
Another simulation project, another screening of Lawrence in Jacksonville. You won’t see anything else, and for good reason. The 6-foot-6 big-armed quarterback has all the traits you want in a franchise guy, and he would be the focal point of what new coach Urban Meyer hopes to build. Only Washington has a lower total QBR over the past three seasons than the Jaguars 41.6, but Lawrence has finished in the top 10 of all FBS quarterbacks in that category in every season of his college career. He’ll pitch for scouts on Friday ahead of surgery on his non-pitching shoulder this spring, but see him as a lock for the top pick at this point.
