The 2021 MLB Draft continued for the Phillies on Monday afternoon after selecting 18-year-old right-hander Andrew Painter with the 13th pick overall on Sunday night.

Painter is 6 feet 7 inches tall and was at 97 mph the first time the Phillies spotted him. He had a 0.31 ERA as a senior at Calvary Christian HS in Fort Lauderdale and played with Phillies manager Joe Girardi’s son Dante.

For more on Painter, here’s what Phillies recruiting director Brian Barber had to say about the pick.

Rounds 2-10 are Monday and Rounds 11-20 are Tuesday. After picking 49th, the Phillies draft 84th overall, 114th overall, and then have the 13th pick in every round from 5 to 20.

Check back here throughout the day for information on each of the Phillies’ draft picks:

Round 2, 49th overall: OF Ethan Wilson (South Alabama)

The Phillies dedicated their second-round pick to Ethan Wilson, a southern Alabama outfielder.

Baseball America places Wilson 26th on its top 500 draft prospect list, and the Phillies put him at 49.

Wilson (6-1 / 210) is a left-handed hitter drafted for his stick.

Here’s an excerpt from Baseball America’s scouting report:

Wilson controls the area well and has a solid all-court approach as well, with the power to drive throws on the outside half over the fence to the left center space. Some scouts think his swing is a little too stiff to really be a hitter anymore, but he has more raw power. Those offensive tools are the carry tools for Wilson, who profiles himself as a left fielder thanks to limited arm strength and below-par running ability.

The Phillies’ next pick is 84th overall.
