The Baseball Hall of Fame Class of 2021 will be empty.
No candidate has reached the threshold of 75% of the BBWAA vote. Most notably, Curt Schilling (71.1), Barry Bonds (60.7) and Roger Clemens (61.6) missed.
All three have one more year of eligibility on the ballot before their Hall of Fame fate is handed over to the Veterans Committee.
This is the ninth time that zero participants have been elected to the Hall of Fame. Classes for 2013, 1996, 1971, 1965, 1960, 1958, 1950, and 1945 were also empty.
However, Cooperstown will always have a party. After the 2020 ceremony is canceled due to concerns over COVID-19, Derek Jeter, Larry Walker, Ted Simmons and Marvin Miller will finally get their dedication.
