Chevrolet posted a video on its YouTube channel on Monday showing the exhaust sound of its upcoming 2023 Corvette Z06. The 24-second clip is Chevy’s first official sound clip of the DOHC naturally aspirated flat-plane crank V8 engine from the car. You’re going to want to turn up the volume for this.

While the video doesn’t show any footage of the Z06 itself, it does give us plenty of meaty exhaust sounds from the car flying around the Circuit of the Americas, a road course in Austin, TX, as well as a video of the car on a tree-lined rear road. Readers will be familiar with sound; we first captured it on spy video in May 2021 while watching the car test its launch control function. The closest thing we can compare it to is the Ferrari 458 Italia, arguably one of the loudest V-8 road cars of all time.
Rumors first released in April suggest the C8-generation Z06 could produce 617bhp from its naturally aspirated engine, a small drop from its supercharged front-engine predecessor. With sound like this, however, we wouldn’t complain about the negligible loss of horsepower.
According to the video, Chevrolet plans to unveil the mid-engined Z06 this fall. Along with the new engine, we also expect the car to receive an overhauled aerodynamic package, bigger brakes, wide body treatment, and wider, stickier tires. We cannot wait.
