Chevrolet decided on Monday that it couldn’t wait another month to show us the 2023 Corvette Z06, So this is it. The brand first posted this single image of the performance car’s exterior on Instagram before dropping the image in our lap this morning. Granted, the brand hasn’t discussed performance details and other highly anticipated items, but one reveal remains a revelation.
So let’s talk about it. The 2023 Corvette Z06 offers much more aggressive aerodynamics up front with a sharper front splitter and air dam. We don’t yet know what’s going on at the rear, but there could be a redesigned wing at the rear as well. Expect some restyling of the rear diffuser and maybe the tailpipes as well. A multi-spoke wheel set also fills the profile pretty well, and some beefy brakes definitely lurk behind them.
The Z06 isn’t really about design, it’s about power. The Corvette team is expected to deliver with a flat-cranked, twin-overhead cam V8 engine, as Chevy has mentioned in previous teasers. Signs point to a naturally aspirated engine under the hood with links to the C8 Rs 5.5-liter V8 used in motorsport. It develops 500 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque, but remember the streetcar is not limited by any racing rules. In other words, we’ll probably see over 500 horsepower. This too unlike any other Corvette that came before it, so expect a totally different beast than today Corvette Stingray.
Chevrolet plans to unveil the car, or alternatively, tell us about the rest of its newfound pride and joy on October 26. For now, fans have only one image to obsess over.
