After a long, long teaser campaign, heavy metal legends Iron Maiden have finally unveiled their new song, “The Writing on the Wall,” alongside an animated music video filled with Easter eggs – and we have some. gathered 21.
In the video, mysterious black-caped racers ride through a desert setting on motorbikes, quickly approaching a distant tower that was the focal point of the cryptic “Belshazzar’s Feast” seen in the launch campaign. Over time, these characters encounter certain hallmarks of the group’s history, such as the Cart and Horses Pub, the venue that hosted Maiden’s very first lineup at a show in 1976.
The Four Horsemen, most likely meaning the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, are clearly on a mission. Their opponent is an overweight politician who first rides in a convertible sporting upside down American flags devoid of the 50 stars which signify the unity of the country (we don’t name any names here …), surrounded by people who are clearly in a state of suffering.
The license plate, as we will see later, is labeled “Pres 1” and the American flags are restored, stars and everything, right side up, once the racers have defeated their enemy and Eddie has claimed. the vehicle for itself.
The setting is pretty dystopian and the song’s title suggests that perhaps this political leader should have seen what was to come and his end was inevitable.
