Active Covid-19 cases by county from September 1 to November 23
Sonora, California – Tuolumne Public Health has identified 33 new cases today. Health officials say at present all appear to be in isolation and investigations into the cases are continuing. Cases include 4 women and 4 men under 20, 3 women and 1 man in their 20s, 2 women and 1 man in their 30s, one man in his 40s, 1 man and 1 woman in their 50s, 3 men in their 60 year old and a 70 year old man.
21 previously isolated cases have been released from isolation today. There are 258 active cases, 525 recovered and 806 in total.
The Optum / LHI state trial site at Mother Lode Fairgrounds will increase capacity starting next week to help meet the growing demand for testing. As of Wednesday, December 2, there will be two test lanes instead of one from Wednesday to Saturday and at least one lane will be available seven days a week. Mariposa, a county with about three times the population of Tuolumne County (17,795 to 52,351), reported 4 active cases when 4 new cases were reported on Friday and then another 7 on Saturday. Their active COVID-19 cases have jumped to 15, which is linked to an outbreak we reported here in May. According to their health officials, “Mariposa remains in the yellow tier pending a status update. We plan to upgrade to Orange and will share this information as soon as possible.
In mid-October, Stanislaus, which the state health department says has a population of 562,303, was able to reduce his active cases to 200 where Tuolumne County, which has 10 times less population, now has. Stanislas’ active cases have increased since October to 1,379 active out of their total of 20,370 this year. Only 11% of Stanislaus’ COVID-19 infections were in people over 65, but 78% of COVID-19 deaths were in people 65 and over, a death rate of 16.8% for this age group. No one under the age of 25 has died in Stanislaus County, 12 of those deaths were in people aged 25 to 44, 79 deaths or 19% were between 45 and 64. Preliminary 2020 demographics for Stanislaus show 8,318 births through the end of October. and 4,891 total deaths in the county. Tuolumne has had 432 births and 498 deaths reported as far as detailed here.
