Margaret Brennan of CBS News said members of President Donald Trump’s cabinet were discussing whether to invoke the 25th Amendment, which would remove Trump from office and make Vice President Mike Pence the commander-in-chief.

Several cabinet members have considered whether to take the proposal to Pence in order to trigger formal proceedings, according to Brennan.

The news comes after a crowd of pro-Trump supporters entered the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday afternoon.

Brennan said the discussion is still in its early stages. There has also been speculation about a massive resignation from the White House following Wednesday’s uprising.

This is a developing story and will be updated as new information becomes available.
