3 found shot dead in Dallas after SWAT standoff

Three people were found dead on Sunday evening from gunshot wounds after a confrontation with SWAT at an apartment complex in Texas, authorities said.

Dallas Police said officers responded to a report from an active shooter around 4:30 p.m., police said. When officers arrived, a gunman pulled a gun and hit their police car, police said.

Officers withdrew and immediately called Dallas SWAT, police said.

Dallas Police said SWAT officers attempted to contact the shooter, but their efforts were unsuccessful. At 7 p.m., they entered the residence where they found the bodies of two women and a man who had died from apparent gunshot wounds, police said. The victims have not been publicly identified.

Police said no police opened fire or injured.

An investigation was underway, police said. No further details were immediately available.
