The New Jersey State Police stated that a boat had struck a navigation marker in Barnegat Bay, injuring three people.

Police spokesman Alejandro Goez told Asbury Park Press that the ship struck the marker shortly after 10:30 pm Friday near the Thomas A. Mathis Bridge in Toms River.

The boat operator, aged 58, and a 77-year-old man were taken to the community medical center with minor injuries.

A 54-year-old woman was flown to Jersey Shore Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Goez says all three should be treated and released. A fourth passenger was not injured.
