3 people died following a plane crash in a house in the canton of Lyon

LYON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) – Three people have died after a plane crashed into a house in Lyon Township.

The three people are believed to be the pilot and the two occupants, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.

The Canton of Lyon fire department responded to the accident on Saturday afternoon in block 57600 of Russet, near Grand River and Pontiac Trail. The house was completely engulfed in flames, authorities said.

All residents inside the house are said to have left the house safely.

Officials say information is not yet available on the type of aircraft. The FAA has been contacted regarding the crash.
