300,000 Ram 1500 recalled for their potential to disable airbags and seatbelts

Fiat Chrysler has certainly a lot to do lately, between its proposed merger with Renault and Ram trucks, hit by recalls. To add to the stack, the FCA is now recalling nearly 300,000 Ram 1500 2019s in the United States, which could potentially deactivate their own airbags and seat belt restraints.

These are things you may need if you are in an accident.

It would not have been well resolved if, for example, another ram of the 2015 to 2018 model year dropped a huge object into his potentially defective hatchback while driving in front of a newer one. We hear that this is a problem recently.

The FCA announced the recall on Friday, claiming that it would involve 295,981 Ram 1500s in the US, most of which date from the 2019 model year and 26 of which are pre-production models for 2020. The recall also includes 38,884 trucks in Canada, 1,817 in Mexico and 6,154 others outside of North America, announced the announcement.

The problem this time is that a software error could turn off the 2019 and 2020 truck seatbelt airbags and pretensioners, also known as collision sensing devices to hold the seatbelt in place. Do not have airbags or seat belts at work during a collision is not terrible, hence the recall.

The good news, at least, is that the FCA claims that it is possible "is very far away" and that it is unaware of the injuries related to the issue or accidents involving it. The homeowners concerned must be aware of their plight on July 20, and FCA has indicated in reminder documents that will reimburse anyone who has already paid for repairs related to the problem.
