Director Duncan Jones, son of David Bowie, reflected on his father’s death five years later.

On Twitter, Jones said it was “remarkable” that Ziggy was still celebrated with such enthusiasm years after his death.

“Today marks five years since dad died. We are all a little sad and cope individually in our own way, ”he wrote.

“But it’s both remarkable and lovely that Dad is still so clearly loved by so many people. Yes, he missed him… but with so much of “him” in the job he’s done, he’s clearly still there.

David Bowie died of liver cancer on January 10, 2016, two days after his 69th birthday.

Many musicians have paid homage to Bowie in light of the anniversary of his death. Notably, We Are KING returned after an almost five-year hiatus to release a cover of “Space Oddity,” which is part of a larger tribute compilation record, “Modern Love.”

A tribute livestream, A Bowie Celebration: Just For One Day, was broadcast last Saturday (January 9). Artists like Yungblud, Billy Corgan, Trent Reznor, Anna Calvi and Duran Duran all performed for the concert.

New covers of John Lennon’s “Mother” and Bob Dylan’s Bowie “Tryin ‘To Get To Heaven” were also released for the first time.

Bowie released his latest album, “Blackstar”, days before his death. Talk to NMEBowie collaborator Donny McCaslin rejected the idea that the singer was saying goodbye with his latest record.

“There’s the ‘Blackstar’ tale being that farewell, which I totally understand. But that coexists with the fact that he was so creative. He planned to do more, ”he said.
