“There is a good chance he will issue match-fixing charges stemming from the ongoing investigations.”
A number of professional Counter-Strike: Global Offensive players have been punished for violating the anti-corruption rules of the Esports Integrity Commission – ESIC -.
“ESIC is issuing sanctions against 35 players for betting offenses and extending bans for 2 players previously sanctioned in October 2020,” ESIC reported. “ESIC will continue to investigate other offenses in Australia, North America and Europe in cooperation with law enforcement.”
“The sanctions pronounced in today’s press release are not for match-fixing,” adds the organization. “However, ESIC believes that there is a strong possibility that it will issue match-fixing charges stemming from ongoing investigations, including potentially against players sanctioned today.”
Failure to comply with ESIC anti-corruption rules means that players have either bet “on matches at ESIC member events” or “bet on an individual’s matches in ESIC member events. Or “bet” against an individual’s own team in ESIC member events “.

The penalties include extending the exclusions of two players who had already been the subject of bans following a similar investigation concluded last October; Akram ‘ADK’ Smida, formerly of Rooster, saw his one-year ban doubled to two, while Darly ‘Mayker’ May, formerly of Ground Zero, saw his one-year deportation tripled to three (thanks, PCGN ).
Matthew ‘Jam’ Castro, Alvin ‘Gravinz’ Changgra and Wilson ‘willyKS’ Sugianto have all been subject to the maximum five-year ban for the most egregious rule violations.
ESIC adds that it has “referred the entire case to the police for investigation”, and adds that a number of “associated non-players” have also been caught “in unfavorable betting behavior” and were also referred for further investigation.
