Die-hard Peril fans love the idea of their favorite champions face to face; however, when the Champions Tournament the schedule was announced Wednesday, some fans were less than satisfied.
Once the dust subsided by the initial enthusiasm aroused by the return of James Holzhauer, Twitter users quickly expressed their disapproval after finding that Emma Boettcher would face Holz again.
Boettcher defeated Holzhauer on June 3, ending the 32-game series of his Las Vegas sports bettor. The Chicago-based researcher defeated Holzhauer after a higher bid at the "Final Jeopardy!" round.
Although she managed to dethrone this previously unbeaten quiz, many Twitter users did not think Boettcher deserved to face it again. Others hoped to see the battle between Holzhauer and Ken Jennings.
"Emma did not win, she only won 3 games," said a Twitter user. "Totally unfair to other deserving champions."
"WHAT?" Emma "How does she qualify?" Others have won more (and Ryan is still going !!). This should be based on qualifications, "said another. "They have to empty Emma, something seems to be fishy here."
"Ok, maybe we were not strong enough … We wanted Ken to compete with James NOT Emma," a Twitter user said emphatically.
Despite the disappointment of Twitter, Holzhauer seems excited about the opportunity for "revenge".
"Am I looking forward to revenge you? Boettcher a ** I am," tweeted Holzhauer Wednesday.
