& # 39; Captain Marvel's Brie Larson breaks Carol's relationship with Maria

Captain Marvel finally released in theaters in just over a week, and MCU fans are more than ready to see the heroic Carol Danvers debut on the big screen. However, Carol will not be alone in her adventures. She is accompanied by her best friend, Maria Rambeau, herself a pilot of the Air Force, and their friendship is essential to the development of Captain Marvel's character.

Although many will know Maria as the mother of Marvel heroine Monica Rambeau, she plays an important role in Carol's journey before her life with the Kree. Lashana Lynch plays Maria in Captain Marveland EW recently spoke to star Brie Larson about why both roles were compliments needed.

"I think because it's 2019, and what it's all about, it's really intersectional feminism," began Larson. "There is no doubt that we will have to show what it means to be all kinds of women, that we do not have a single type, it has become a great opportunity, even with stories like the story of 'love. [We wanted] to make that great love – that lost love, that love that is found – to be with [Carol’s] best friend. To show this, it's incredibly powerful and captivating, and you can go to the end of the Earth and fight to the end for your best friend. It's perfect for me and so meaningful. For me, this is part of the meditation of this film: it is the feminine force, but what is the feminine force? What are the different ways that can look? "

Later in the interview, Larson continued her momentum by claiming that Carol Danvers was far from being a perfect heroine and that she needed people like Maria to keep her strong.

"But that's one of the reasons I felt comfortable because originally I thought," I'm not interested in an idealized version of perfection, "she said. "It does not interest me to describe perfect, strong women who never make the wrong choice because I consider myself a risk taker, and I make a lot of mistakes because of that. That's how it works. Big swings sometimes mean a big failure. "
