A New Jersey Police Department is looking for a thief called "Donut Desperado".

A few days before National Donor Day – an invented gourmet party where companies offer free fries – a suspect identified as an actor jumped over the counter in a Dunkin 'located in South Brunswick, New Jersey, and took a donut without paying Township police tweeted on Tuesday.

According to the tweet, the alleged crime took place around 20:30. June 1st.

The tweet, which includes 29 seconds of surveillance video, indicates that the donut was caught while the suspect seems to broadcast the flight live. The video shows the suspect wearing black pants and a red hoodie.

Police ask anyone with information to call 732-329-4646.

According to WPVI, a television channel in New Jersey, the suspect allegedly filmed in mid-May a robbery at a nearby Chinese restaurant under the same red hooded sweater.

Dunkin's head office told the station in a statement that it was aware of the incident.

"The franchisee who owns and operates this place informs us that the safety and well-being of its crew members and customers are top priorities and that it is cooperating fully with the police investigating this incident," the statement said.

National Donut Day is held on the first Friday of June. Dunkin's eateries offer a free donut to purchase a coffee shop.

Earlier this week, a police department in Louisiana turned to social media to say when not to call the police.
