Gavin Goulden: As a child of the '90s, this costume is one that I remember from my childhood reading Spider-Man (other than the classic costume, of course). The team did a great job updating the materials in this combination and bringing the design to the future. We referred to the sports equipment to find ideas to break the main suit with inserts, slit-tipped sports shoes to make the feet unique and functional and a ballistic fabric to use for extra equipment at wrists and ankles. The contrast in this combination is great and the material definition is even greater – I think that forever fans, like me, now have a new and definitive Scarlet Spider.

We also wanted to reinvent the entire body's spider emblems by creating a segmented version that would allow it to fold with the combination underneath.
