F1 2021 is a great installment in Codemasters’ ongoing annual series, but the developer really seems to be struggling with the PlayStation 5 version. It wasn’t that long ago that the game’s ray tracing features were causing visual issues. elsewhere, so the team deleted it entirely while they rectified things. This has been fixed and ray tracing is now back, but a new fix disabled another key feature of the PS5: 3D audio.
Patch 1.06 has been released and on the PS5 version 3D audio for headphone users has been removed. In the patch notes, Codemasters states the following: “3D audio for headphones has been temporarily disabled on PS5. This will be re-enabled as soon as the related audio issues have been resolved.”
We hadn’t noticed any audio-related issues ourselves, but we assume they must have caused Codies some trouble to disable the feature altogether. Fortunately, the team will probably change that pretty quickly, and you can all start to end your F1 season all over again immersed in 3D sound.
The new patch brings a bunch of improvements and fixes elsewhere, so if you’re interested, check out the full patch notes here. Did you have any issues with 3D audio in F1 2021? Zoom into the comments section below.
