Police continue to search a neighborhood in Rockville, Maryland after the burglary of a night gun store. As there are perhaps four armed suspects on the run, the police are urging local residents to navigate the area with greater caution.

Four suspects are on the run and a suspect died after a burglary at an arms shop in Rockville, Maryland early Thursday morning, according to Montgomery County Police.

Eastbound Randolph Road between Parklawn Drive and Putnam Road had been closed early Thursday while police were investigating the incident, but at 10 o'clock a lane was passing. As there are perhaps four armed suspects on the run, the police are urging local residents to navigate the area with greater caution.

An alarm was triggered at the United Gun Shop at the intersection of Randolph Road and Parklawn Drive around 2:30 am Thursday, police said.

The five suspects hit a police car as they fled the scene, forcing the police to shoot at the car, officials said.

The police then found the car a few blocks from the area with a dead man inside, police said.

Police said they found a bag containing several guns in a backyard not far from the scene. Three other guns were found outside the car where the suspects tried to escape. It appears that two stolen cars were used during the incident – one to hit the storefront and a car on the run.

John Domen of the WTOP, who is on the scene, reports that the police are warning residents that if something seems "out" in a yard or house, immediately call the police.

Another gun shop in Laurel's Maple Lawn section was robbed very similarly Wednesday morning, although it's unclear whether the two incidents are related. Police responded to Fox Firearms at 2 am, where unknown suspects entered the store while driving a stolen vehicle through the front of the store, escaping with several guns, according to the Howard County Police.

This is not the first time that United Gun Shop in Rockville is burglarized. In 2017, several guns were stolen from United Gun Shop early Thursday morning after suspects forced the door and took several handguns and shoulder guns.

John Domen's WTOP reports were recorded in Rockville, Maryland.
