A grizzly bear who dragged a long-distance cyclist from a tent in Montana and fatally maimed her was shot Friday – after wreaking havoc on a nearby home, officials said.

The 400-pound bruin that killed Leah Davis Lokan, 65, of Chico, Calif., Was shot by federal wildlife officers, who lured him into a chicken coop just after midnight, said Greg Lemon of Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks at a press conference.

“Based on the size of the bear, the color of the bear and the nature of the raids on the henhouses, we are satisfied that we have the offending bear,” Lemon said, according to CBS.

The bloodthirsty murderer – who ate several chickens the day after Lokan’s fatal attack – likely ripped off the door of a house in the Ovando area on Thursday evening, leaving behind huge claw marks, said Powell County Sheriff Gavin Roselles said in a Facebook post.

Lokan, a registered nurse, was on a 400 mile cycling adventure with others when she pitched a tent near a post office in the small town outside of Helena and was attacked early Tuesday.

Another member of his party heard noises and ran out of his tent to spray the bear – to no avail, officials said.

The animal had entered the camp earlier that night, prompting the cyclists to remove food from their tents and go back to sleep.

Investigators first launched a helicopter hunt for the bear and collected animal DNA from the scene of the Lokan attack.

They now plan to compare the grizzly bear’s DNA to the dead bear’s genetic makeup to confirm that it is the same animal. Authorities expect results within three days.

Bear tracks found at the site of the mutilation match those found near the trap set up Friday morning, Lemon said.
