48 SuperDoves to launch with SpaceX

[ad_1]

Curious planetary working to make Earth changes visible, accessible and usable.

Planet is booming in the new year with 48 SuperDoves, our Flock 4s, set to fly on SpaceX’s Transporter-1 mission. This carpooling mission launched from the Cape Canaveral space station in Florida will deliver Flock 4s in a sun-synchronous orbit at an altitude of approximately 500 km. These 48 SuperDoves improve image sharpness and quality, as well as new spectral bands for analysis. With this launch of 8-band SuperDoves, Planet will continue to provide medium resolution (3-5m) multispectral images globally to our customers around the world.

This marks our sixth launch on a SpaceX Falcon 9 and our third launch on their smallsat carpooling program. Just last summer we successfully launched six SkySats across two SpaceX Starlink ridesharing missions and we’re excited to fly again on such a reliable and well-piloted launcher.

Follow us Planet twitter for updates as the launch window approaches.

Ad Astra!
