49ers general manager John Lynch named 2021 Professional Football Hall of Fame finalist

The 15 Modern Era Player finalists for the 2021 Pro Football Hall of Fame class were revealed on Tuesday, with the San Francisco 49ers general manager making a spot on the list.

This year marks the eighth time Lynch has been a finalist. The San Francisco general manager built one of the all-time great careers in the NFL with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1993-2003) and Denver Broncos (2004-07). Four times All-Pro and nine times Pro Bowl, Lynch has played 224 games (191 starts) and recorded 1,054 tackles, 13.0 sacks, 26 interceptions, 16 forced fumbles, eight breakaways and 100 defended passes.

The finalists will be presented to the full selection committee of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, made up of 48 members, the day before Super Bowl LV. The Selection Committee will elect a maximum of five Modern Era players for the 2021 promotion.

The 2021 Pro Football Hall of Fame class will be determined and announced during the week leading up to Super Bowl LV in Tampa, Florida.
