The 49ers are perhaps one of Antonio Brown's favorite bets, but it seems like it would not be a wise bet.
The 49ers general manager, John Lynch, said Thursday that he had not called the Steelers about Brown.
"We do not have it," Lynch said. "It's funny, the world we live in, where a tweet from one player to another arouses interest and all the rest. But hey, it's the world we live in. I can tell you that, like all teams in this league, we think this guy is a damn football player. But we did not have any discussions with the Steelers. I can tell you that. "
The Hall of Fame, Jerry Rice, lobbied for Brown to join the 49ers, along with his close George Kittle. Brown responded by posting a photo of himself in a 49ers jersey.
"I'm going to give up, he's a great player," said Lynch. "We have a lot of respect for Antonio."
