49ers’ Jimmie Ward impersonates Kyler Murray, leaves DeAndre Hopkins open

Cardinals fans probably didn’t appreciate 49ers defensive back Jimmie Ward mocking Arizona quarterback Kyler Murray.

After San Francisco recovered a fumble from Cardinals running back Chase Edmonds, Ward posted himself in the end zone in a meditative pose, just as Murray has done a few times this season.

The trolling, however, shocked San Francisco fans soon after. After the Cardinals stoppage, their offense targeted Ward on a scrambling play that allowed Murray to allow wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins to compete for a jump ball.

The pass was reversed, but Ward didn’t adjust as well to make a play on the ball.

That allowed for a 30-yard reception, which the Cardinals capitalized on with the following play: a fade to Hopkins in the end zone for a nine-yard touchdown.

That score made the difference Sunday in Arizona’s 17-10 victory at State Farm Stadium.

Niners fans weren’t thrilled with Ward’s decision to troll Murray. Others found the end result quite funny.

Murray, however, was not so bothered by Ward’s imitation.

“They deserved it,” the quarterback said when asked about Ward’s pose. “Get the ball back, do whatever you want to do.”
