The reaction of the fan to losses is often exaggerated. My reaction after the losses, doubly. The same cannot be said of the 49ers themselves, however, and in particular of George Kittle. Speaking from the podium after his team’s 28-21 loss to the Seahawks, Kittle had a reassuring message:
“I am still very excited. The sky does not fall. There are no bears in the building. I think we played really really well throughout the first half. I just couldn’t run on the stretch. I couldn’t finish these hunts. Then we had a few turnovers that you can’t give to a Seattle Seahawks team like Russell Wilson’s.
So obviously we are disappointed to have lost two at home, but the only thing I like about our team: we never give up. You don’t really stick out with your tail between your legs. We go out there and try to hit guys in the face as hard as we can. I know Arizona just went to LA and got a good big one-two, so you’ve got us 2-2 and them 4-0 – it’s going to be a hell of a battle. NFC West, baby.
Everything George said is right. Being 2-2 after four weeks isn’t the end of the world. San Francisco still has games against a lot of teams that they should beat. Chicago during week 6. Jacksonville during week 11, Cincinnati during week 14, Atlanta during week 15 and Houston during week 17. The other games on the program are rather toss, but the seasons are always defined by how your team plays. coin toss games.
Even the 2019 49ers would tell you.
