49ers news: Joe Staley remembers when he had to change his helmet and ended up breaking his nose.

Before the San Francisco 49ers defeated the Denver Broncos Monday night at football, Jesse Palmer of the NFL reported Joe Staley wore the same helmet as wide receiver Antonio Brown of the Oakland Raiders Raiders since 2003, with a very brief but unsuccessful change in 2012. Staley said he liked the helmet and understood to some extent why Brown did not want not change. Staley admitted that he was not happy when he was forced to change jobs. Staley also understood that he had to be compliant and eventually changed.

Palmer asked Staley if it was as simple as changing the helmet. Here is the complete quote from Staley:

"No, I made a big smell about it. I loved this helmet. It's a sucker in the head. He did not move at all. In my opinion and again, it's only my opinion, but I understand why Antonio Brown is upset. It's not a vision. I'm not a wide receiver, but when you sprint on the field, the helmet does not move because it is stuck against your head. "

Staley then showed Palmer the fear on his nose. Staley tried to switch to the helmet in 2012 for security reasons. In the first game, he was wearing the helmet, it slipped, broke his nose and removed some skin.

He went back.

Staley says he's now wearing a helmet designed with a 3D printer to fit his head perfectly. Staley said the new helmet is "at hand[his old helmet]but not quite. There is still movement.

In 2012, former offensive line coach Mike Solari said Staley still did not want to leave the game. He cleaned his nose and immediately returned. Unbelievable.

I imagine that most players feel a level of empathy for Brown, but they all understand that "the rules are the rules" and that this needs to be done.
