The 49ers have finally evoked their needs off receiver. They announced the signing of former Eagles and Bills receiver Jordan Matthews.

Matthews, 26, enters his sixth season in the NFL. He entered the league with the Eagles as a second-round pick in Vanderbilt. He played in Philadelphia for three seasons before being traded to Buffalo for the 2017 campaign. He signed again with the Eagles for 2018.

Although his production has dropped significantly over the last two seasons, he has been a very good receiver in his first three years. Matthews had 67 assists as a rookie with 872 yards and eight touchdowns. He followed with 85 catches, 997 yards and eight touchdowns in the second year. His third year was less productive with 804 yards and three touchdowns for 73 receptions.

2017 and 2018 were less friendly with the newest 49ers receiver. He had only 45 catches for 582 yards and three touchdowns in total.

He will now have the opportunity to return to his original form in an offense where he will probably be one of the best receivers. Its 6-3, 215-pound frame gives it a unique size for the 49ers receiver body. He plans to compete for the place of Pierre Garçon at the top of the map of the depths.
