NASHVILLE, Tennessee – A person of interest was in custody Saturday night after the death of five people in a rural county of Tennessee, the authorities say.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation confirmed that four homicide victims were found in one house in Sumner County and another in another, and there was reason to believe that both scenes were related.

The BIT has named Michael Cummins, 25, as a person of interest for the murders. The agency said that he was considered armed and dangerous.

Cummins was described as weighing 5 feet 7 inches and 180 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.

At a press conference on Saturday night, TBI spokesman Josh DeVine said he could not provide any information on the victims, but urged residents of the region to remain alert .

Dozens of police officers were involved in Cummins' search Saturday night, DeVine said. Beyond the BIT, authorities from the Tennessee Highway Patrol and Sumner County were participating in the research.

DeVine pointed out that the rural and wooded area surrounding the crime scene could make research difficult. "There are potentially many places where (Cummins) could … hide for the night," he said.

Sheriff Sonny Weatherford of Sumner County has previously stated that "several bodies" have been discovered at the scene of the scene between Westmoreland and Oak Grove.

A previous article from the Westmoreland Police Department on Facebook warned residents to be looking for a white suspect, possibly driving a black Kia.

The scene took place in a rural area of northwestern Sumner County, just a few miles from the Kentucky state border.
